Tips for choosing a wedding photographer

Hiring a wedding photographer is one of the biggest decisions you can make for your wedding day. Long after the cake and Catering is gone, the  moments captured that day will be passed down for generations to come.

One of the most important things is to be able to see full weddings that the photographer has done recently.  It’s easy for photographers to post the best of their best photos online but being able to see several full wedding day galleries are important.  It will give you an insight of exactly what to expect on your wedding day.  Do they pay attention to the details you picked out?  Like the Kate Spade wedding jewelry or the Helzberg Diamonds ring he picked out for just for his bride? Or the champagne glasses you picked out for your wedding toast?  What about that moment when the groom looked at his bride for the first time and just could not hold back the tears?  Did the photographer capture that?

Meeting with the photographer is important too.  This will give you the opportunity to see if your personalities click. First impressions are key and if you instantly strike a bond then you are on to a great thing. If you feel uncomfortable around your photographer, for whatever reason, then this will become very apparent in your wedding photos.  You will be spending a lot of time with this person that day so it is important that you click.  The photographer should be excited about your vision of your wedding day.  This should be a person you can trust to make sure the moments of the day are captured as they unfold.

Make sure you hire a photographer that has insurance.  If they don’t, chances are they are not a true professional in the industry.  Do they have backup equipment?  How many weddings have the done?

Pay close attention to their reviews.  Do they have any reviews?  If so, are they highly recommended?
